At the first sign of symptoms, get tested. While waiting for your test results, isolate yourself from others, wash hands frequently, and wear a mask.
Hand sanitizer is sold out everywhere but you can easily make it at home! We have provided a complete guide including ingredients currently available for purchase.
Hand sanitizer is just 60%-70% alcohol mixed with skin moisturizers. It is important to know that hand sanitizer is not as effective as washing your hands for 20 seconds or more with soap and water – it is rather a simple and better-than-nothing alternative when washing your hands with soap is not available.
(1) Do not use denatured ethanol, or higher proof ethanol. While ethanol is drinking alcohol, denatured ethanol contains toxic substances to make it unfit for drinking; likewise, higher proof ethanol contains toxic substances from the purification process.
(2) Glycerol, glycerin or glycerine are mostly the same thing – glycerin is the commercial name for glycerol and may or may not be 100% pure but you don’t need pure glycerol for hand sanitizer. Get whichever one you can find.
Mix two parts ethanol with one part glycerol.
That’s it!
